10% of all October ‘Nida Kay Designs sales will be donated to the Eisenhower Lucy Curci Cancer Center in Rancho Mirage, CA. I think back 25+ years to women I knew who died from breast cancer, to the last 10 years or so to present, and the women who have survived because of better diagnostics and improved treatment. I vote for continued improvement!
Along the same line, but moving into the fiber realm, if you’d like to knit a prosthetic breast for women who have undergone a mastectomy, here’s the link to Knitted Knockers Project. http://theknittingexperience.com/knitted_knockers_program/
If you’re a crocheter, here’s a free pattern I found on Ravelry: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/faux-boob
The Knitter’s Haven in Indian Wells, CA, has participated in the Knitted Knockers Project. When I popped in for a quick visit today, I believe I saw a basket with the pattern. If you’d like to stop by to pick up information, you’ll meet the nicest group of yarnaholics one could ever hope to find! Located at 75270 Highway 111, Ste. 206, Indian Wells, CA. 92210.
